ELECTRICAL CEILING HEATING (E-SYSTEM)
The ArgillaTherm electric natural climate ceiling combines the advantages of innovative direct heating technology with the positive properties of polar clay minerals, relying on a newly developed, globally unique and patented modular construction system.
The base material of the system are the patented HUMID modules. They regulate the humidity in a room in a unique way with their material composition. During winter, they prevent dry heating air as they naturally balance the air humidity. In summer, they provide passive cooling for the building. Click here for further information on HUMID modules.
The electrical natural climate ceiling is free of any type of electromagnetic and electric radiation with the applied twin-conductor heating technology. This has been analyzed and certified by VDE in Offenbach.
All ceilings and roof slopes can be covered. This is made possible by the open modular system design, as the pipe is laid in the grooved structure without couplings or connections once the entire surface has been covered.
Range of application
The electrical natural climate ceiling is used in the following buildings:
From an economic point of view, the required energy quantities in the building should not exceed 40 kWh/m² annually, and a combination with the photovoltaics system and the power storage shall be pursued.
Advantages of the natural climate ceiling
- Omission of any system technology (centralized heat generator, pipe network, chimney, boiler room etc.).
- Maintenance and repair costs as well as heating cost accounting for rentals are omitted.
- No operating expenses for pumps and servo motors on the heating manifold.
- 3-times longer service life compared to heat pumps.
- The system is very responsive and generates unrivaled high capacities for heating. This is owed to the system structure and the highly conductive base material – the HUMIDs.
- Optimized room air humidity – in summer and winter.
- Room climate suitable for allergy sufferers and asthmatics.
Passive cooling through night ventilation (evaporation principle)
The electric natural climate ceiling can be used to passively cool rooms in summer. This works by using HUMID modules. By ventilating at night, the modules can absorb large amounts of moisture, which is then released again during the day through evaporation. The evaporation process requires energy, approximately 60 watt hours per m² per 100 g of moisture released. If, for example, 100 g/m² of moisture is released in 3 hours, the cooling capacity of the ceiling is 20 watts per m². Natural room cooling without the use of energy.
Response time/thermal inertia
The response time for heating is approximately 10 minutes, and the HUMID modules, including the plaster covering, are completely warmed up after approximately 60 minutes. If the energy supply is interrupted, the system maintains a constant surface temperature for around 60 minutes, depending on the ambient conditions, thanks to the high storage capacity of the HUMID modules. This means that low-cost heating electricity tariffs for ‘permanently installed interruptible consumption devices’ can be used (Section 14a of the technical connection conditions TAB of the network operator).
Comparison of consumption and maintenance costs
System structure
The overall structure height is only 55 mm. This system can be mounted directly to the ceiling or suspended from the ceiling by means of lathing or suspenders, as desired. All ceilings and roof slopes can be covered. This is made possible by the open modular system design, as the pipe is laid in the grooved structure without couplings or connections once the entire surface has been covered.
Possible ceiling arrangements
Full-surface with indirect lighting
Partial area without neutral module
Exposed beam ceiling
Prefabricated ceiling panels
