Natural Climate Systems
Heating & cooling with the power of nature
ARGILLATHERM
The ArgillaTherm GmbH based in Göttingen is a joint venture of industrial companies and the federal state of Lower Saxony.
In cooperation with a dedicated team of civil engineers, physicists and system partners, such as Fraunhofer-Institut IBP, MFPA Weimar, TU Dresden and many others, ArgillaTherm has developed and produced modular natural air-conditioning systems for sustainable and energy-efficient building air-conditioning.
The results of years of research are HUMID modules, which can rapidly absorb large amounts of moisture and emit it, as soon as cooling is no longer required. They mostly consist of polar clay minerals. Across one square meter, these modules can rapidly absorb up to 1.7 l of water, without causing swelling, shrinking, or cracking.
The surface cooling and heating systems by ArgillaTherm do not require any extensive equipment, as air-conditioning and moisture management is ensured via the utilized natural material. The highly-innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient system can be installed in new buildings as well as retrofitted in existing buildings.
Building air-conditioning is required to create a comfortable and healthy room climate. Furthermore, moisture management also plays an important role, in order to avoid material damage and the formation of mold. With its natural air-conditioning systems, ArgillaTherm ensures a comfortable room climate all year round. Central ventilation systems, which are expensive and require a lot of space and maintenance, are no longer needed. Via the coupling with the decentralized ventilation systems, the CO2 and pollutant discharge, as well as heat recovery can be achieved significantly more efficiently and cost-effectively.
