Mould prevention & passive cooling with the power of nature

CEILING & WALL SYSTEM FOR MOISTURE CONTROL (F-SYSTEM)

The system can be used on walls, ceilings, or slanted ceilings. It serves to regulate humidity and prevent mould growth, and can be used for passive cooling of buildings.

The basic or base material of the system is the patented HUMID neutral module. It regulates the humidity in a room in a unique way with its material composition. Click here for further information on HUMID modules.

Mould prevention

Two factors are responsible for mould growth, which must occur simultaneously in the building over a relatively short period of time:

  1. The relative humidity in the room is above 70%.
  2. The surface temperature is below 15°C.

This is usually caused by inadequate heating, poorly insulated or leaky building envelopes in combination with inadequate or incorrect ventilation.

Due to their uniquely high proportion of polar 3-layer clay minerals, HUMID modules react strongly when the relative humidity in the room rises above 50%, absorbing excess moisture from the air. This prevents the humidity from rising, which in turn prevents mould growth.

Passive cooling through night ventilation (evaporation principle)

The system for moisture regulation can be used to passively cool rooms in summer. This works by using HUMID modules. By ventilating at night, the modules can absorb large amounts of moisture, which is then released again during the day through evaporation. The evaporation process requires energy, approximately 60 watt hours per m² per 100 g of moisture released. If, for example, 100 g/m² of moisture is released in 3 hours, the cooling capacity of the ceiling is 20 watts per m². Natural room cooling without the use of energy.

Range of application

System structure

The system consists of 3 layers:

  1. The mounting layer: 22 mm OSB or ESB chipboards with groove/tongue-connections
  2. The module layer: Consisting of the HUMID neutral modules.
  3. The surface coating: HUMID universal plaster developed by ArgillaTherm followed by finishing clay paint

Mounting layer with partially mounted neutral modules

With surface coating, prior to the installation of luminaires etc.
