What technology can be used to cool buildings?
Below you can see how many days during the three summer months the required room cooling is achieved with the common systems.
Requirement: max. 26°C room temperature e.g. offices and administrative buildings
Conclusion:
Argillatherm natural climate ceilings work without restrictions on all summer days, as do air conditioning systems. Concrete core activation and conventional ceiling cooling systems generally require a ventilation system with pre-drying of the fresh air. If fresh air pre-drying is omitted and the air exchange in the building is increased by at least 2 times, then sufficient cooling can still be achieved on 70 of the 93 summer days. If the ventilation system is omitted completely, then sufficient cooling can only be achieved on 40 of the 93 summer days.
Requirement: max. 24°C room temperature e.g. hotels and hospitals
Conclusion:
Argillatherm natural climate ceilings work without restrictions on all summer days, as do air conditioning systems. Concrete core activation and conventional ceiling cooling systems generally require a ventilation system with pre-drying of the fresh air. If fresh air pre-drying is omitted and the air exchange in the building is increased by at least 2 times, then sufficient cooling can still be achieved on 65 of the 93 summer days. If the ventilation system is omitted completely, then sufficient cooling can only be achieved on 30 of the 93 summer days.
Why Argillatherm natural climate ceilings are the better choice:
- Air conditioning systems require a lot of energy, are maintenance-intensive, create drafts, and produce an unhealthy indoor climate.
- Ceiling systems cool via a cold surface, are maintenance-free, and create a healthy indoor climate, but cannot dehumidify. This leads to considerable restrictions in cooling operation or the need for additional ventilation technology for dehumidification, which also requires a lot of energy and drives up investment costs.
- The natural climate ceiling cools and dehumidifies via its cold surface. This globally unique technology provides surface cooling without restrictions, with the performance values of an air conditioning system.
