The primary objective of this is the protection of exhibits, the building structure or of highly-sensitive measurement instruments. This means that a continuous room air humidity of usually 50\u00a0% shall be maintained over the entire course of the year under heating or cooling conditions. Fluctuations of the humidity inside the room are caused by visitors of museums, operators of measurement instruments, the devices themselves, or other internal moisture sources. Heating and cooling have the same effect.
